 Court Leet: Documents mentions that  Ennerdale had a Court Leet, which was a type of manorial court responsible for local governance, resolving disputes, and enforcing customs. For example, Charles II appointed Richard Tolson as "seneschall and custodian of the Court Leet and view of frankpledge of the manor" in 1660.

As an International Lawyer who studied Civil Law, Mentz became the Seigneur of the Fief Blondel of Guernsey in 2018.  In the Channel Island of Guernsey, there are about 25 private fiefs left in the Crown Dependency of the UK Crown.  The Fief Blondel as a feudal holding has a history of over 700 years as an ancient Seigneury and Noble French Norman Title which also includes the Fief de L’Eperon.  Under Guernsey law, the style of noble Seigneur is still legally availed to the owners of Fiefs who are Free Lords or Free Tenants.  These seigneuries are the last fiefs in the world to be registered in the Royal Courts directly with the Crown where a Feudal Payment of conge or Tresieme is paid in court to the Crown’s Royal Clerk Greffier. The titles of Baron, Count or Seigneur were abolished in the French Empire on June 19, 1790, but these Norman titles still exist in the Channel Islands that are owned by the Crown or presently the Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms.  Counselor Mentz is officially invited as a dignatary, lawyer and Seigneur to participate in the ceremonies of the Court of Chief Pleas in Guernsey which may be the oldest Feudal Court in the world managed by the Royal Courts of the Crown. The two deed files — DLons/W/8/28/12 and DLEC/3/11/10/416 — provide definitive archival evidence that the British government and the Crown jointly conveyed the Manor and Forest of Ennerdale, including its bailiwick, Court Leet jurisdiction, and manorial rights, in a formal, cash transaction. The 1822 document (DLEC/3/11/10/416) outlines the sale particulars of 960 acres of Crown land then in the occupation of the Earl of Lonsdale, explicitly including fishery and mineral rights, Court Leet, Court Baron, and all manorial rents. This was not a mere property transfer but a jurisdictional sale, sanctioned by HM Commissioners of Woods and Forests, the governmental authority tasked with managing and disposing of Crown forest lands. The earlier file (DLons/W/8/28/12) further supports the continuity and legal integrity of the manor and forest, including historical court orders, Crown grants, tenant records, and official valuations leading up to the sale. Together, these documents confirm that Ennerdale’s jurisdictional structure — as a forest, manor, and bailiwick — was deliberately and lawfully transferred by the Crown and State for monetary consideration, making it one of the most legitimate and documented feudal jurisdictions ever sold into private hands.
